Nº 001 · Roasted in Fremantle · Est. 2019

Slow coffee
for a port town.

Anchor & Bean is a small-batch roastery and café off the Cappuccino Strip. Single-origin pour-overs, all-day brunch and a courtyard full of plants. Laptops welcome on weekdays. Dogs welcome always.

From bag to cup.

Nº 01 · Origin

It starts as a small lot.

We buy from growers and importers we can name, a few bags at a time, chosen by taste rather than spreadsheet. If it isn't interesting, it doesn't get on the boat.

Nº 02 · The roast

Roasted here, every week.

Every batch is roasted in Fremantle, a few metres from the espresso machine. Lighter than most, and tasted before it earns a place on the shelf.

Nº 03 · The pour

Then we brew it the slow way.

Water, time and a steady hand. By the time you reach the end of this section, your cup is full. Come and have the real one.

Nº 04 · The ritual

Fremantle mornings, done properly.

Mornings here start before the gulls. First light on South Terrace, the roaster warming up, batch brew ready by half past six. Come for the coffee. Stay because the courtyard gets the good sun.
